Pradeep Kumar Sharma: investigator, problem-solver, high-achiever

Written by Perry Teo  •  Employee Stories  •  09 June 2023

When one is asked to describe the skills a successful recruitment coordinator should have, an investigative mindset is not usually the first trait that comes to mind. Pradeep, however, bucks the trend, deriving great joy from the world of pre-employment screening and background checks and going the extra mile to prove that candidates are truly up to scratch for their impending role.

We catch up with Pradeep, fresh from his experience meeting colleagues around the world at Robert Walters Group’s Global Incentive Weekend. Read on to learn more about the mindset behind his meticulousness, his journey of specialisation from his previous HR generalist role, and how Resource Solutions has enhanced his career prospects.

What is your current role & what is a typical day like?

I am currently a Recruitment Coordinator based in Resource Solutions’ Hyderabad Global Service Centre (GSC), which has me fulfilling the processes of our offered candidates in India. These could range from candidate screening to onboarding, or scheduling interviews on behalf of our Direct Recruiters during busy periods. Before this, I first joined Resource Solutions as a Pre-employment Screening (PES) Coordinator, with a specific focus on scrutinising the background of our selected candidates before officially extending their offers.

A typical day usually consists of following up on open roles by keeping candidates warm, while ensuring that they provide necessary details to us for various PES- and offer-related enquiries. I also field any job-related questions they have or speak with relevant managers for clarification when required.

What did you do prior to working at Resource Solutions?

I’ve been doing HR work since the start of my career. My first role was as an HR Operations generalist, on-site at another RPO firm. There, I dealt with the full spectrum of recruitment, including offer management, onboarding, payroll and statutory compliance, while also offering audit and exit support when required.

What do you enjoy most about working in your current role?

The investigative aspects! To ensure our clients hire candidates that are adequately qualified for roles, we run extensive checks on all candidate profiles for discrepancies – work-related misdemeanours, falsified job experiences, and so on. This process is also conducted with the candidate in mind – when places of previous employment are not responsive to our background check requests, we step in and verify their qualifications through other means, like LinkedIn or through referees.

Through this process, I also get to learn about other companies, their scopes of work, and how their practices may enhance the work we do here at Resource Solutions.

How do you find the benefits and working conditions at Resource Solutions?

Resource Solutions offers what I consider best-in-class benefits – our insurance coverage is extended beyond the usual beneficiaries to include parents and in-laws, which is much appreciated for employees with families to care for.

Aside from healthcare, I also greatly appreciate the international exposure offered to us. Resource Solutions is not just an organisation with a global presence – platforms for cross-country collaboration are well established, which allows us to consult the expertise of colleagues from across the globe. Locally, our management is always on the ground, extending their support and expertise whenever we have issues.

One more thing – we also recently moved to a new office in Hyderabad, and it’s a beautiful place that allows us to work in comfort and collaborate better. It’s an investment that speaks volumes about how much the organisation wants us to thrive.

How do you find the culture of Resource Solutions?

I enjoy the culture very much, especially two particular aspects. The first is equality for all – employees are treated equally regardless of their location, background, or affiliation with the company. We also include any staff working with our teams temporarily, so we call get to connect through cultural activities, town halls, or informal get-togethers.

There are also initiatives like the Global Incentive Weekend, which I got to attend this year because of my performance at work. It happened to be the first time I’d travelled outside of India, and I got to meet and learn from so many colleagues from all around. All in all, it feels great to know that my efforts are recognised.

What career path do you see yourself taking at Resource Solutions?

It’s something that is not front of mind at the moment, as I’m loving what I do right now! However, the company does provide structured avenues for growth. Initiatives like Career Pathways map out the steps I can take to progress, and training is available and accessible to all who wish to pursue it.

From a day-to-day perspective, I get to grow in intangible ways as well – plenty of credit goes to the management for encouraging and actively acting on suggestions, making our lives easier wherever possible. Working in this environment gives me confidence that I can move to higher positions, supported by the leadership in the region.

If someone was thinking about joining Resource Solutions, how would you describe the company and your experience?

Resource Solutions is an amazing company that prioritises people, their well-being, and their career growth. When I first joined, I did not think I was capable of my current level, but hard work coupled with a culture of responsiveness and recognition has gotten me places, along with many colleagues like me.

With plenty of opportunities to learn, both from formal training and from talented, helpful colleagues across different functions, plus plenty of platforms where great work is celebrated – here, you can achieve anything you want to achieve.
