In the summer of 2022, fresh off the back of an immensely successful internship campaign, our Singapore headquarters expanded our programme in search of up-and-coming talent to share in our APAC growth journey. Three chosen ones answered the call – six months later, they’ve left an indelible impact on our Sales and Commercial business partner functions, shared their perspectives on several other aspects of the business, and even got to try out recruitment!

Next up in this three-part feature, we invite Jack Drabwell, our friendly Sales, Solutions, and Bids Intern, up for a chat! New to the business of RPO, Jack has worn many career hats and reflects on chasing two more – taking on roles in and around the Recruitment spectrum at Resource Solutions, all while striving for the gilded MBA feather on top.

Thank you for sharing this internship journey with us! To start off, please tell us about your role and some key projects you were involved in during your time here.

I’ve been able to jump into several projects as a Sales, Solutions, and Bids Intern. First up was market analysis for a potential client - a medical device company seeking an RPO solution in China. This involved research on the market size, industry sentiments, and key players, which eventually became a joint effort with Robert Walters China. It was an eye-opening illustration of the complexities faced by global companies operating within the APAC region and the endlessly valuable expertise that exists across the whole Robert Walters Group.

As Resource Solutions’ core work lies in talent acquisition, it’s only apt that I got to try that out too! We were tasked with sourcing and screening candidates for the onsite teams of a newly won client in Taiwan and Korea. It was great to get hands-on experience with the recruitment process, and it is also indicative of Resource Solutions’ ability to provide a wide gamut of experiences for us and their willingness to trust us with business-critical tasks.

What did you like about your internship with us?

What I liked most about my internship with Resource Solutions was how involved I felt throughout the whole process. I was always asked what I would be interested in and offered work based on those preferences. Projects were suggested rather than mandated, and at all times, I felt that my opinion was valuable and heard. That ability to participate in crafting my own experience here was invaluable and a huge part of what made my time with Resource Solutions so fulfilling.

Were there any new challenges you encountered here, and how did you manage to overcome them?

Balancing a full-time internship with my studies was always going to be a challenge, especially with exams at the end of each semester. I can’t really take credit for overcoming this challenge, as it was only possible because of how supportive and understanding everyone at Resource Solutions has been - giving me time to study, always being sensitive to my MBA commitments, and taking my classes into account when scheduling meetings or setting deadlines.

How is the culture here at Resource Solutions?

The culture at Resource Solutions is the glue that binds the whole internship experience together. The level of openness between teams, the encouraging and welcoming environment, and the trust I have been treated with since the day I arrived - all of these factors mean that day in and day out, I come into the office feeling excited and supported. It is a culture built on a mutual passion for the business and its vision, and it’s infectious!

What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue an internship at Resource Solutions?

Whether you’re interested in the Recruitment Process Outsourcing industry or if, like me, you have never even heard of it, I would happily and sincerely recommend considering an internship with Resource Solutions.
