On Saturday 12^th November, UK charity Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders (ITL) held a Career Fair at Wimbledon High School, London.

The ITL Careers Fair was attended by 100 girls aged 13 to 18 of African and African Caribbean heritage, and was specially designed to give them the opportunity to interact with professionals and role models from a variety of industries.

We were proud to be among the companies represented at the event. Our team was excited to meet the girls and answer any questions they had around the nature of the recruitment industry, the types of roles available, the skills required to flourish, and what a typical day is like at the company.

Additionally, our team hosted a workshop that equipped the girls with invaluable career skills, such as CV writing, interview techniques, and referencing/pre-employment screening best practices.

The team and I had a fantastic time meeting these amazing young girls, showing them what the recruitment industry has to offer, and sharing practical advice along with hints and tips for building up their careers. The girls were very engaged throughout the day, and I hope we’ve encouraged them to pursue new opportunities they may not have considered before as well as equipped them with a level of confidence they can take on their career journey.”

Earlier this year, we announced our partnership with ITL, which encompasses learning resources and mentoring as well as financial sponsorship. Our company mission is to redefine work so everyone can have a lifetime of opportunity, and we are hugely inspired by ITL’s commitment to increasing career opportunities for disadvantaged young people.

We’re especially happy with the positive feedback from the attendees themselves, with one girl saying it was “really refreshing” and made her “realise that there are so many other careers” she could choose. We look forward to supporting future projects with ITL and continuing our contribution to this meaningful change.
