Resource Solutions’ Talent Acquisition team volunteers at the RSPCA in Manchester
We’re proud to offer our people one day of paid volunteering leave a year. Jenna Sakim and Sophie Lloyd from our Talent Acquisition team told us all about their purr-fect volunteer day at the RSPCA’s Manchester and Salford Branch.
The Manchester and Salford Branch is a separately registered charity from the National RSPCA and has been running since 1963. They rehabilitate and rehome cats, rabbits, rats, reptiles, and guinea pigs that have been rescued by the National RSPCA inspectorate.
As well as rehoming rescued animals, the adoption centre promotes responsible pet ownership through a range of events in the community.
Jenna and Sophie had a busy day helping to clean the facilities, including the cat dens where new cats arriving at the adoption centre will be placed. They also helped organise donations, made toys for the animals, and joined cat and rabbit socialising sessions.
Jenna and Sophie chose to use their paid volunteering leave at the RSPCA as they’re both highly passionate about animal welfare. Reflecting on her volunteer day, Jenna says:
“It was a great day away from a usual day’s work. The branch doesn’t receive any government funding so they rely on volunteering to help with the small team of staff. It was nice to be given the opportunity to support a great cause. Previously, another volunteer from Resource Solutions adopted a cat from the same centre!”
“Each animal came with a unique story. It felt incredibly rewarding to be a part of the team helping to clean, take care, and socialise with the animals ready for rehoming."
The charity also offers an advice and support line to the public via telephone and email. Find out how you can help support the charity by clicking here.
