Resource Solutions’ Jacksonville team volunteers at the Veterans Outreach event
At Resource Solutions, we pride ourselves on giving back to our community. We are proud to offer all employees globally one day of paid volunteering leave a year as part of our benefits package.
The Jacksonville team used their paid volunteer day onsite at the Veterans Outreach event. The annual event held by the City of Jacksonville, Military Affairs at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds assists veterans experiencing homelessness or joblessness assistance with obtaining employment and supporting with interviewing skills.
The team volunteered here as this event closely aligns with several military initiatives the North America team want to prioritize in 2023. They felt they could offer their team’s expertise, while spending time making a difference in the community where so much of our team resides. They have developed a relationship with the City of Jacksonville’s Veterans outreach team and seek to partner with them in assisting our veterans and military spouses with mentoring and volunteer opportunities within the Jacksonville community.
The team had a busy day creating resumes and LinkedIn accounts, assisted with completing applications, posting resumes on online job boards, interview role-playing as well as handing out candidate interview prep material.
Reflecting on her volunteer day, Kirstie McIntosh says:
“Living in Jacksonville and being within 40 miles of three Naval bases, it drives a strong appreciation of the veteran community. I could not think of a better way to use one of my volunteer opportunities here with RS. The sacrifices our veterans make to protect our freedoms is something that I could never pay back, but this volunteer opportunity allowed me to start.”
Claude Ingle says:
“As a veteran, I appreciate the fact that Resource Solutions is encouraging us to reach out to and help our veterans. It can be difficult transitioning from military life to civilian life and services such as interview preparation, LinkedIn assistance, and resume guidance can go a long way toward making the transition smoother. Additionally, these services can possibly help to lower the disproportionate numbers of veteran homelessness. I’m proud to be a veteran and proud to be a part of Resource Solutions.”
“I absolutely loved getting the opportunity to work with the Veterans and military families as a whole”, says Devon Barnes. “It is very near and dear to my heart with my family and husband coming from a military background. The opportunity to be able to help them with their next career move and how to make themselves stand out is amazing. I loved the opportunity to get to meet and help and I look forward to doing it in the future too. It was nice that Resource Solutions allows for the volunteer day so we don’t have to worry about taking our own personal time off to make a difference”.
