Why I moved from in-house HR to on-site recruitment
Yoo-Bin Cho began her career in recruitment outsourcing working as a Recruitment Coordinator, onsite for one of our key clients, a global pharmaceutical company based in Seoul.
As the client account grew, so did here career and she was promoted to Recruiter, sourcing both permanent and fixed term roles directly and via referrals in Korea. We talked to Yoo-Bin about why she made the move from in-house HR to on-site recruitment.
Why did you decide to join Resource Solutions?
Previously, I worked as a senior HR associate for one of Korea’s largest technology companies. In my three years there, I gained broad HR experience across several disciplines, such as Human Resources Management (HRM), talent development and recruitment. While it was hugely beneficial for my development, I felt that I needed to specialise further.
That’s when I learnt about Resource Solutions and its RPO offering in Korea, which was a whole new concept in the local market. I was intrigued by the business model and how every consultant is an expert in their field.
What part of being an On-Site Recruiter do you enjoy most?
There’s probably no such thing as a typical day. As you would expect, we have regular meetings with hiring managers, HR business partners and potential candidates. Meeting directly with the customer face-to-face really allows us to understand the organisation’s recruitment requirements and build a rapport with their people.
Working on-site allows you to become immersed in all facets of the client’s business and it’s a great feeling to know they respect you for the value you bring as an industry expert. The appreciation you get from candidates for your support throughout the process is also hugely satisfying.
How would you describe the culture at Resource Solutions?
If I could define it in one word, that would be ‘people focused’. This applies both to how the company treats its own staff and the candidates sourced on behalf of our clients.
Resource Solutions is known for its integrity in its client dealings as well as the outstanding candidate experience it provides.
You’re really made to feel part of the family. Everyone in the team will go out of their way to help you – support is never in short supply. At the same time, the company puts the needs of its people first, making sure that we have all the tools to do our jobs to the very best of our ability and that we’re happy in our work environment.
They want us to fulfil our potential and really invest in our training and development. Even though, as in my case, you’re working remotely, you never feel alone – the support is always there.
What’s the best part about working as a recruiter for Resource Solutions?
You’re really made to feel part of the family. Everyone in the team will go out of their way to help you – support is never in short supply. If you’re looking for a collaborative environment where everyone wants you to succeed and where your efforts are appreciated and recognised, that’s what you’ll get here.
What are the most important qualities to succeed in recruitment?
I would say resilience and having a positive mindset. Recruitment is fast-paced and challenging by nature, so you need to be able to navigate a storm. But the successes are never far away if you stay motivated. Just focus on working hard and everything else will fall into place. Perseverance is key.
