From Receptionist to Recruiter

Nadine Nevitt Resource Solutions RPO

Nadine Nevitt started her career journey with Resource Solutions as a receptionist at our Global Service Centre (GSC) in Manchester in 2015. In just two years, Nadine has quickly progressed in her career with us and is now an Associate Recruiter with one of our largest global banking and financial services clients.

We asked Nadine about her rapid career progression and what it’s like to work at our Manchester GSC.

What initially interested you in pursuing a career in recruitment?

I had just graduated from university and was working part-time in a pub. I was looking to get out from behind the bar and into an admin role in an office environment.

I never thought of recruitment as a career until I joined Resource Solutions. Just three months on reception exposed me to the ins and outs of recruitment and the endless opportunities for learning and growth. Being a part of a large, global organisation was great but the culture and the people were even more appealing.

What happened next?

One of our biggest banking clients was expanding some of their business into Manchester. My manager approached me about moving into a Recruitment Coordinator role to help support the client. As soon as I moved over I got thrown into the deep end right away! It was fast-paced, challenging, but also so fun! I was learning so much in such a short period. After nine months, I was promoted to Associate Recruiter.

What’s great about working at Resource Solutions is that there are so many amazing clients. If you’re self-motivated and a top performer you can move around to different accounts to develop your skills. After just six months in this position I went on a secondment to one of our luxury fashion clients.

Whether you’re an experienced recruiter looking for more career progression or you’re just starting out, if you put in the work, the opportunities are endless.

What’s it like to work in the Manchester GSC?

The working environment is a friendly, fun, and supportive one. The teams definitely make the work day enjoyable as we are really close and we know how to cheer each other up if we’re having a bad day!

We work mostly in siloes separated by account but at the end of the day we’re one big Resource Solutions family. We get together at pub quizzes, awards, incentive lunches and our big Annual Business Update - there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate our successes as a team.

What would you say to someone who is thinking of coming to work at Resource Solutions?

Not too long ago I was greeting people at the door and now I’m helping run assessment centres and interviewing candidates for high-profile roles. Helping my clients and candidates meet their goals is hugely rewarding.

Whether you’re an experienced recruiter looking for more career progression or you’re just starting out, if you put in the work, the opportunities are endless.

Resource Solutions is very good at letting their people explore their potential. If you have a willingness to grow your career they will help you every step of the way.
